Frequently asked questions

• What is the big event?
  One day a year Truman students devote to serving the citizens of Kirksville as a way to unify the two communities. This will be the 9thannual event.
  
  
• When is Big Event?
  Saturday March 21st, 2009
  
  
• What is each team responsible for?
  Completing the job site assigned to your team leader. This could be painting, raking leaves, washing windows, etc.
  
  
• How do I sign up?

• Who are we helping?
  Residents of Kirksville in need of a little assistance
  
  
• Where are we going?
  To one or more residences in the Kirksville area
  
  
• What about safety?
  All tasks are safe and do not require the use of power tools.
  
  
• Am I expected to provide materials?
  No, the SERVE center coordinates that with the homeowner

For Community Residents

• Who can request a Job?
  All residents of Kirksville are invited to request a job. There are a limited number of job sites that will be accepted on first come, first serve basis.
  
  
• What do Jobs include?
  Jobs can include tasks like raking leaves, painting, washing windows, weeding, etc. But cannot include tasks needing power tools!
  
  
• How can I get a request form?
  - Request forms are available here.
  - In the Kirksville Daily Express and Index (February 22nd , March 1st)
  - By mail upon request.
  
  
• What about Materials?
  Materials and tools must be provided by the resident. If you cannot supply the necessary materials/tools, contact The Big Event to make arrangements. However, the Big Event is limited on the amount of supplies we can provide.
